A contested divorce lawyer is a must-have when tensions are high and you all parties are not in agreement over the divorce, child custody and property. A contested divorce will require trial and a lot of time. If all parties aren't being cooperative, it is important to make sure you are represented by a lawyer who has your best interest in mind.
If you have agreed with your partner on all levels of a divorce, an uncontested divorce is your easiest and fastest option. This is done without either party ever having to go to court. Once you have filed pleadings and other paperwork with the court, the court reviews what has been filed and dissolves the marriage. Oftentimes this style of ending a marriage is also referred to as a dissolution.
However, it is still important to have legal representation during an uncontested divorce. An attorney can assure you have filed for your uncontested divorce and that you are not giving up any of your rights, especially if there are children involved.
